  • Maintains professional competency by keeping abreast of new coding issues and guideline. Attends classes and meetings as assigned. Reviews professional CDI and coding literature regularly
  • Works with RCO Coding staff, physicians and Patient Accounts with regards to payment denials, medical necessity and documentation issues. Instructs staff on proper documentation in the medical record
  • Collaborates with Coding staff, management and internal auditors during the CDI/Coding reconciliation process
  • Assists as needed on internal education documents with Inpatient coders
  • Collaborates with Performance Improvement & Safety on high risk cases to ensure that cases are properly documented, and coding staff is aware when specified diagnosis are identified
  • Utilizes grouping software to determine the working DRG
